The prompt that kills generic answers
Make the AI interview you first. Five questions in, it writes like it actually knows the job.
You need: Any chat AI: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Copilot
Generic answers come from generic input. The fix is not a longer prompt: it is letting the AI ask you what it needs before it writes anything.
The interview-me-first prompt
I want help with: [the task, e.g. a post announcing our new Saturday hours]. Before you write anything, interview me. Ask me the 5 questions whose answers would most change what you write. Ask them one at a time and wait for my answer each time. When you have all 5 answers, write the first version. Then tell me the one thing you're least sure about, so I can fix it.
Use it
- 1Paste it and swap the [task] for yours.
- 2Answer each question in one or two lines. Voice typing is fine.
- 3When the draft arrives, reply with what to change, not a new prompt. "Shorter, and less salesy" is enough.
Bonus: the 10-second fixer
Rewrite this so it sounds like a real person wrote it. Remove filler, keep it under [N] words, and cut any sentence that would still be true for any other business.
Run it on anything that "sounds like AI".
